For Elly, seemingly unimportant occurrences and small visual stimuli collected while travelling, gardening or just waiting for someone, trigger her imagination. Rather than giving a realistic rendering of the world around us, her paintings are lyrical abstractions, evoking imaginary spaces. In these spaces change is always a possibility. What is on offer are suggestions and opportunities for the viewer's personal discovery and imagination.

Elly regulary exhibits in London and the South East as well as in South West France. Her work has been exhibited at the Royal College of Arts in London, the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow, The Land exhibition in Southampton and the Chichester Open, to name but a few. Her paintings are held in private collections in Britain, France, The Netherlands and Australia.
In addition to pursuing personal concerns in her paintings, Elly also undertakes commissions; she has a special interest in making work in response to a particular location.
